UPVC Joints Produced in Iran Using Nanoparticles

TEHRAN (INIC)- Pishgam Plast Ahvaz Co. in Iran applied nanotechnology to produce various types of UPVC joints used in building pipes with better mechanical and thermal properties in comparison with similar products.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the third synthetic polymeric material after polyethylene and polypropylene. PVC is presented to the market in two forms of solid and flexible. Flexibility of PVC can be improved by adding additives. UPVC does not contain flexible materials and it has a solid behavior. The major application of this polymer is the production of pipes and joints in buildings.
According to the CEO of Pishgam Plast Ahvaz Co., maintenance of building pipes and joints is very expensive. Since products of this company have been produced by using nanotechnology, the use of these products may decrease maintenance cost. These pipes and joints have higher impact and thermal resistance in comparison with similar samples.
Nano-fillers increase strength, mechanical module and toughness of the polymer matrix. These extraordinary properties are caused by very high surface area of nanoparticles.
Pishgam Plast Ahvaz Co. acquired ISO 9001 from the American Institute of AGS in 2008. This company produced about 100 metric tons of UPVC annually. This product succeeded in acquirement of Nano Scale Certificate in August 2016 from Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council.
